Abstract: The speaker will quickly touch upon the concepts of Sustainability and Green IT individually. Green IT will be dealt with at length. He will then go on to establish the importance Green IT and how it supports Sustainability. Finally, he will share over 50 cases of corporates worldwide that have implemented and benefited from Green IT practices. These cases prove that Green IT is for all sectors and organizations of all types.



You are invited to participate in the second Gulf Programming Contest, where many universities in the UAE have been participating in the annual programming contest, previously known as The National Programming Contest (NPC).

When: March 14th and March 15th, 2012
Where: Khalifa University campus – Abu Dhabi, UAE

  • Each institution may participate with up to three teams.
  • The contest provides an excellent opportunity for students majoring in computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, management information systems, information technology, or any IT related subjects to demonstrate their skills in programming and problem solving and to meet students from other institutions.
  • This contest prepares the teams for the ACM regional and World programming contests.
  • Valuable prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

On behalf of the Department of Computer Science, The American University in Dubai and as an initiative to bring the database enthusiast in the region together, we are pleased to invite you all to take part in this premier scientific event: the Database Operations and Development Symposium 2012. DODS2012 will take place on 18th March, 2012. DODS2012 is a forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest research results, ideas, developments and applications in all areas of database operations and development.

The theme of interest in DODS2012 this year is Mobility and the latest mobile application in the field of Database Design and development. The Symposium will include invited presentations by experts from academia, industry, and government as well as contributed paper presentations describing original work on the current state of research in database operations, development, systems, applications and related issues. There will also be tutorial sessions, workshops, special sessions, demos, panel discussions, posters sessions, Telepresence Seminars and panel discussions, and exhibits. Conference sponsorships are welcomed.

We are also delighted to host the “Mobile EDA Seminar where Electronics begin”, a workshop on the latest technology in the EDA (Electronics Design Automation) world will be organized by Mentronix and Mentor Graphics tackling increasing EDA design complexities, shrinking design cycle times and increasing demand by companies. The workshop will include a series of presentations and live demonstrations highlighting evolving features and integration of point-tools and workflows.
