Recording and Live Streaming

RECORDING AND LIVE STREAMING OF BCS EVENTS

Every year, BCS groups such as branches, specialist groups, and young professionals organise scores of high quality events, often with highly respected speakers. But, sadly, many BCS members cannot access those events because they are unable to attend – for good reasons such as work or personal commitments, travel distance or time, or cost. And, all too often, valuable content is lost for ever because it wasn’t recorded.

Of course, Information Technology can help us to solve some of these problems. The Membership Board Best Practice Committee is aware that some enterprising groups have made recordings of their events and posted them on the BCS web site and other sites such as YouTube. Here are links to a few you might like to know about:

To enable more widespread adoption of recording and possibly live streaming of events, we’ve established a Working Group to develop best practice in this area. If your group already has experience of recording events, or if you would like to be involved with the Working Group, PLEASE LET US KNOW ABOUT YOUR APPROACH by e-mail to best.practice@bcs.org.uk as soon as possible.

We hope to make rapid progress on this initiative and report back to you at the Spring Member Groups Convention on 8th March with recommendations and demonstrations.
